About the Client:

Client is a Japanese Electronics Company. It is world’s leading brand in electronic products.

Business Requirements:

The User and Reference manuals were previously designed in Japanese and English languages. In order to expand the business and increase product adoption from Indian users, the client was looking to release these products in Indian languages.

Indesign Hindi

Project details:

Service: Translation and DTP in Indian and Arabic languages.
Source language: Japanese and English
Target languages: Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, and Arabic
Volume: 250 – 300 Pages
Tools and technology used: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator.

Challenges:

Original source file is created in Adobe Frame Maker. The client required manuals in specific Unicode fonts for Indian Languages in InDesign.
Creation of InDesign source files from Frame Maker with all the supported features like Cross-references, Hyperlinks, bookmarks, Index Entry, TOC, etc.
Exact matching of source layout, Image position, spacing, and margin.

Solutions:

Created many Paragraph and character styles made up of all the required parameters for consistency of every style of layout designing.
Implemented all the required features – cross-reference, Hyperlinks, Index markers, and TOC in InDesign.
Verified the correct translations of all plugin words in different Indian languages with the linguist experts.
QA team tested the final output files to match the Japanese-level standard.

Result:

It helped end users understand the manual in their native language.
The client’s business revenue was increased because the project helped them enter a new market and establish their brand.
Created a more user base of non-English-speaking people and regions across India.
